At First Choice, the children are separated into 5 groups:
Nursery (6 weeks - 16 months)
Toddlers (16 months - 2.5 years)
Junior Kindy (2.5 years - 3.5 years)
Kindy (3.5 years - 6 years).
ELC (children enrolled in our Kindy program the year before they begin school).
These groups dependent on availability and the needs of our community.
Our ratios are:
1:4 for 6 weeks - 2 year olds
1: 5 for 2 year olds
1: 11 for 3 – 6 year olds
At First Choice Early Education Centre we believe that children learn best through play and hands on experiences. They discover, imagine and explore their thoughts and ideas while also exploring their senses as they build, move, investigate and socialise throughout their environments.
We ensure we build strong relationships as we believe relationship building is the foundation for learning. With the support and practice of early childhood theorists, we ensure children are valued, understood and encouraged to explore and foster their curiosity in a safe and nurturing environment. We feel this is best supported by building a sense of safety and security through primary caregiving and attachments.
We believe children are strong, capable young learners who have the right to explore their ideas and learn based on their interests.
A little about your Centre Manager
Amy
With over 15-years experience in Early Childhood Education and Care, including 8 years experience managing a service, I have had experience in all roles within the ECE sector including Assistant Educator, Lead Educator, Educational Leader, Assistant Area Manager, Early Childhood Teacher, Centre Manager and most recently an Early Childhood Consultant with Hourglass Consultancy. I enjoyed forming an inspiring, dedicated, and enthusiastic team of educators who worked to provide children with the highest quality of care and education.
My passion for ECE has grown since giving birth to my two beautiful children and they inspire me daily to ensure the best possible learning outcomes can be achieved by all children. I honestly believe we as Early Childhood Professionals have a real opportunity to shape the lives of all our young people that we educate and care for on a daily basis and this is what motivates me to do better.
I am excited to once again be working alongside a dedicated team as we work to become the centre of choice for children, families and educators.
